Good Morning friends! It’s a beautiful, chilly, fall morning here. I just LOVE Sundays, it’s my favorite day of the week!
So this morning I want to talk about the importance of praying for your husband.
In Stormie Omartian’s book The Power of a Praying Wife, she says, “A wife’s prayers for her husband have far greater effect on him than anyone else’s, even his mother’s. {sorry, Mom.} A Mother’s prayers for her child are certainly fervent. But when a man marries, he leaves his father and mother and becomes one with his wife {Matt. 19:5}. They are a team, one unit, unified in spirit. The strength of a man and wife joined together in God’s sight is far greater than the sum of the strengths of each of the two individuals. That’s because the Holy Spirit unites them and gives added power to their prayers.”
Our husbands are facing constant pressures to provide and protect their families, they’re facing the temptations of the world around them, they may be facing issues with physical or mental or spiritual health, there are just innumerable reasons why they need our prayers on their behalf.
James 5:16b says ‘The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective'.’
If you want to become a joyful wife, begin praying for your husband daily. Don’t just approach this like ‘I’m gonna pray that he changes all his bad habits and becomes more romantic and more helpful around the house!’ No, instead, pray for his heart, his health, his mind, his protection, etc. And pray for yourself! Pray that you would be the Godly wife that your husband needs, pray that you would have patience when conflicts arise and that you would not hold grudges against your husband when he makes mistakes. Pray that you and your spouse will have a strong and loving marriage that will last forever, pray that you will both be there for each other no matter what the Lord brings into your lives.
I came across this link the other day, another blogger wrote a list of 25 prayers to pray for your husband, and she even provides it as a printable. So I want you to have the link too, because I think it’s extremely important that we be praying wives. {It’s at the bottom of the page.}
Today’s challenge:
Become a praying wife today. Don’t wait another day. Begin keeping a small notebook or journal and writing down things that you need to pray for your husband. If it’s helpful, print out the page from the link below, at the very least it would be a great place to start. I also highly recommend The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian, it’s a fantastic little book and she will encourage you greatly with her honesty about her own struggles in her marriage and how prayer has made such a huge difference.
And as always, if you’d like to check out the other 31 dayers, please click here … you really should, there are some AMAZING topics from 31 days to prayer, 31 days to organizing your home, 31 days of parenting, etc, etc, etc. There are some really fabulous bloggers out there!
