Uh yeah, I'm a little late with my weekly post this week! But trust me I have good reasons ...
Life has been really busy lately, and we also had a fun and busy holiday weekend with guests visiting and plenty of fun fall activities ... so hold on to your hats and lets dig in for LOTS of pictures!!
Things continue to move along with our school year, although we're not accomplishing nearly as much as I had hoped. The days are so full and it's hard to get everything done that we want to do. For now we've been focusing most of our time on math, language, history, science, Bible and of course reading. I still have big plans for incorporating music, geography, spanish and some other things - but for now I'm not going to stress, we'll have lots of time during the long, cold winter to focus on all of that!
Last week we enjoyed some quiet afternoons at home reading ... we love to read and it's exciting to see that our girls love to read too!
One afternoon the girls and I found this little baby snake in the yard ... we took some pics, checked him out real close, then got rid of him! I find snakes very interesting, but they also creep me out! The girls playing against each other at soccer practice ... The lovely clouds I saw while watching soccer practice ... A beautiful tiny butterfly on my Mums ... The girls LOVE finding caterpillars! A nice afternoon at the park - the leaves are starting to change and look so pretty! Friday was a nice day for the library - it was rainy and cool and we just wanted to be inside where it was warm. After the library, schoolwork and lunch the girls helped me bake cookies, then settled in all snuggled up to listen to some books on tape ... And of course we sampled some cookies! Saturday morning was another soccer game! Hope in action! Joy blocking the goal! Then our friends came to visit from out of town for the weekend. We spent a lovely, cool, fall afternoon at a local corn maze - the corn was SO tall! I know it's blurry, but I love the laughing faces as they are running through the maze! Hubby and I in the maze ... Then we went on a hayride ... this would be the first of THREE hayrides we ended up doing over the weekend. Here are the girls and their friends ... The scenery was just gorgeous! I loved the clouds, the hills and the fields! "She thinks my tractor's sexy ... " After the hayride the girls had caramel apples and the adults had cider donuts - yum! On Sunday we went to a fun fall party at one of our very good friend's homes ... they had a bounce house, campfire, pumpkin painting, hayride, face painting, crafts and of course LOTS of food, fun and fellowship! {Bounce house fun!} {Hayride number 2} {Hope and her friend after having their faces painted - the black is supposed to be a bat - why they chose that I'm not sure!} {Pumpkin painting} {Campfire and bounce house} On Monday our friends had to head home so we decided to have a fun family day and enjoy having a Monday off for Columbus day. We went out for lunch, then to pick apples and pumpkins. The girls wanted to find the biggest pumpkins in the patch! We also went on another hayride! Picking apples was a lot of fun too. It was a gorgeous cool fall day. Cold enough to need some layers and really feel like fall. We picked about 4 dozen apples! And we picked some very large pumpkins to take home - we will have fun carving this baby! Later that night we came home and snuggled up together around a campfire in our backyard. A great end to a great weekend! So since it's already mid-week and we're going away this weekend for a few days ... I'm going to hold off and post a week 6 and week 7 update all together. Just lettin' ya know!
Oh and two more things I want to share ... I never buy CD's - just listen to most music on the radio, on the internet or on Sirius satellite through the TV - so I rarely have need to buy CD's.
BUT, in my car I can't listen to any Christian music - we don't have ANY Christian stations around here {we are definitely NOT in the South!} so I always listen to country in the car. But the girls are starting to listen more and sing along and even though I will always LOVE my country music, a lot of the songs are simply not appropriate for kids to be singing along to!
So, I finally broke down and bought 3 CD's from Amazon. And I am SO thrilled with all of them! All 3 are filled with awesome songs of praise and worship - many of which we sing at our church on Sundays. I am thrilled to say that my head and my heart have been full of these amazing songs for days now ... and even better, the girls are now singing along to amazing worship songs too!
SO here are my 3 recommendations for you - I give all of them 5 stars and encourage you to go out and buy them! 1. Chris Tomlin {See the Morning} 2. Micheal W. Smith {A New Hallelujah} 3. Lincoln Brewster {Let the Praise Ring}
And finally, the song that I cannot get out of my head lately ...
