Today we went to our science co-op class. This month the girls and their classmates are learning all about animals.
The teacher was talking about the African Bush Elephant today and asked the children, "think about the name of this elephant, what does the name make you think of?" {I know she was hoping to hear them say something about how the animal probably lives in the bush.}
Hope raises her hand and gets called on to answer ... her answer is, "it makes me think of our old president, George Bush."
A little while later {while still on the subject of animals} they were talking about different kinds of horses and the teacher asked if anyone knew what a 'mare' was. Hope again raises her hand and gets called on and says, "I think a 'mayor' is the person who's in charge of running the town."
It was so funny, the Moms couldn't stop giggling. The funny thing is, she wasn't saying those answers to be fresh or to be silly. Those were what she genuinely thought of in response to the questions! And even funnier is that we really aren't big into politics around here so we rarely talk about it - but both of her answers were political in nature!
